JVC Everio mod files play on one PC in Windows Media Player, but not on another

JVC Everio .mod files play on one PC but not another in Windows Media player. Got sound by downloading AC3 filter but same filter for video did not work.
Also, must find editing software - I have Windows Video Explosion but havn't installed because it probably won't use mod files - what to do?

Your problem will be that one of your computers at some time has loaded the plugin for Windows Media Player (WMP) to play the MPEG-2 file represented by the MOD extension.
You can either BUY the third party plugin for WMP or use another player like VLC to play the file.

Upgraded to WMP 10 and it's working now but still need to know any editing software for mod files.

Should read: "...will be that ONLY one..."
