I have a client of mine with an Asterisk/trixbox system and 5 aastra phones one 55i , three 53i and one 9112i. What my customer wants is to see whether an extension is busy before he dials him. Is there a key in the devices that can do that?

If the phones have a busy lamp or indication you can certenly make use of that.
Would that be sufficient? It does mean all the people would have to be programmed into the short dial buttons.
