IMAP mail account password prompt and connection

Basic setup: new computer running MS Vista, Outlook 2002 on a domain network with local mail server.

Opening Outlook leads to a password prompt for the email account (IMAP connection).  When the account is manually entered, an error message appears - "A connection to the server could not be established.  mail.domain.com is now in offline mode>"  After clicking 'File' -> 'Connect to name@domain.com', everything works properly.

This only happens on this computer, the only one running Vista - all others are running WinXP or Win2k.  It happens no matter which use signs on to the computer.  It doesn't happen with Thunderbird.

Any ideas on how to correct this ?

Hello humeniuk,

Outlook 2002 and Windows Vista are not compatible. So you will have these type problems.  Outlook 2003 or 2007 and Vista are compatible.

Hope this helps!
