I have a computer on the network that is showing up in the content filter a lot because iDisk is blocked and it's trying to access it 1000's of times in a very small time frame.

I've been using tools like CC Get Mac Address and LANhelper but all I can get is the MAC address and that's it. This is a samba domain and DNS is not setup here properly so I can't use something like a reverse lookup to get a hostname, etc.

Are there some pieces of software out there than can do a really thorough check on a computer just on IP/MAC?? I would like to be able to get things like OS version, computer name, etc.

I used to use GFI Languard Network Security Scanner (www.gfi.com).  This does a good job at examining the box remotely.

anything a little less heavyweight? That's pretty expensive for the simple things I'm trying to do...

You just looking for a one-time deal?  There is a 15-day trial, I believe.
