we've some problem in the existing unicode portal which is configured in our local server (REDHAT LINUX)... now the problem is unicode texts are not displaying properly. i.e it displays something different.... also the browser encoding is not selected as it should be "UTF-8" ... it is set in all the pages charset=utf-8 to support the encodeing...

when i force to choose the UTF-8 encoding, it displays well... why as default the encoding is not selected to the portal.. as it will solve the displaying unicode texts properly....

what should i do?

Do I need to change again the all the unicode texts in the pages?

Please suggest me

You should set the encoding in the head of the page ...

i.e
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
</head>

try sending the encoding in the headers....

<? header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); ?>

Note: this should e placed before you  output anything in the browser
