document viewer msi hangs startup

working on a laptop running win xp sp2.  client appears to have started install of ms document viewer msi but didn't have the disc called for by the installer.

so now on startup client's machine tries to install document viewer on startup and will not stop trying to install the software  regardless of any cancel action I take.

where do I look to end this madness?

Also - you can set the Windows Installer service start-up type to Disabled - this should stop the attempted configuration at startup - then run the cleanup utility and set the service back to Manual.
(start, run, type services.msc <hit enter>)

run>msc failed on this machine.  Installer cleanup tool worked like a charm.
Hope that helped.
Thank you.
I am also having this same problem, but when I read through the description for the "cleanup utility", it recommends against using it if you have Office 2007 installed, which I have.
