get "file download security warning" as a result of dynamically added script tag

I create dynamically a script tag in the DOM, set it's type to text/javascript and its source to the url of my server.
The server replies with valid javascript and contentType 'application/x-javascript'
On some of my clients machines running IE6 occasionally this reply is causing a download box to popup.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

seems to tell us it is not understood by IE

Is the filename ending in .js too?

Yes. That was the first thing that we changed - made sure that the request had a file.js part in it. We are now in the process of deploying a fix that will use 'text/javascript' as a content type.
Maybe it will be helpful: all instances of this problem happen on the corporate network computers.
