What causes darker, slightly blurred lines of print every 5 lines

Print quality on my Canon MP600 just started to be a problem.  Every fifth line of text is darker and a bit more blurry.   Looks like every 5th line of text was done bold.  Even true for the Windows test page.

I've done auto head alignment, and checked the nozzles.  Everything is OK.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like driver related  if the auto head alignment, and checked the nozzles come out normal
i would try uninstall and re install the printer then if that does not fix it uninstall the software and re install it

to uninstall the printer just delete it from the printer folder in control panels...

to uninstall the software go into control panels and add or remove programs...
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&modelid=13800#DownloadDetailAct

also before uninstalling and re installing i would try from different programs like word vs note pad and see if the issues persist

is there an offline printer test?  if so, check if it shows the problem also. If yes - you have a bad printer.
You can always contact Canon with your problem

I don't think it is a driver issue.  I've tested the printer with several computers and different programs-- all the same thing.  Because it happens every 5th line, I'm assuming it has something to do with a roller-- thus giving it a repeating, rhythmic issue.  But I don't know how to get to the rollers or the paper advance mechanism.

More investigation just now showed that it was only paper coming through the autosheet feed that had the problem.  Paper coming from the casette sheet feed was fine.
I roughed up the main roller for the autosheet feed and paper fed from the autofeed is now printing fine as well.  It apears I need a new roller ball for the auto sheet feed.
