Adobe Photoshop + Premiere crash freeze - Adobeowl.dll

Hi,

At the college where I work we have been having some problems with the PC's with CS3 on in our media suite.  (See PC specs below)  The machines freeze at random times while running CS3 and Photoshop displaying the following message.

Error =
Faulting Apllication photoshop.exe version 10.0.1.0, faulting module adobeowl.dll, version 1.0.92.0 fault address 0x00009380

Another error that actually restarts the machine is:

Warning =
MV OptimizerService warning:  The Matrix PCI Optimizer did not apply any optimization settings.  Shut down your system and make sure that your Matrox video hardware (for example X.io and X.effects card set) is Properly installed.

The students are working with large PSD files one file I noticed was over 1.5 GB in size!  Now i'm sure this is not good practice?

The machine also crashes frequently whilst running a piece of software called Cinema 4D

The sytem temperature stays around 37 oc so I wouldn't have thought it could be that.

Windows XP SP2 - All updates installed
Adobe Production Premium 3 - All updates installed
Intel Core 2 6400 2,13 GHZ
2 GB RAM
3 x Maxtor Sata drives  - One used as scratch disk.
Nvidia GEForce 7900 GS 256 MB Video Card - Latest Drivers installed
Matrox RT.x2 SD Capture card - Latest Drivers installed
Realtek onboard Sound

Any suggestions are much appreicated.

Thanks

Mike

hey mike
it sounds to me that you have outdated or faulty video drivers or software. did you recently install/update drivers for your video card? did you update the video optimizer recently. it sounds to me that you have the wrong video drivers for your cards. Either it is that, or you have to install Adobe over again, or update it somehow.  That is the only thing I can think of.  I will keep you posted if I find anything else out. Take Care

Hi Guys, thanks for all the help,

It seems to be a mixture of everything to be honest,

I installed the new video drivers with no change, I upgraded the matrox drivers which stopped CS3 working altogether, I think the installation order might have some kind of effect on the how reliable the CS3 suite actually is.  I imaged the machine with an image that I created a few months ago before all these problems started occuring, then installed thed new matrox and video drivers then re-installed CS3, so far it seems more stable however I still get a crash on exit.  I'll see how it goes and then allocate points according.

Thanks

Mike
