Scanning on a network

I have a canon 1022 and I can print to it fine and scan from one machine that is connected through USB but the networked ones cant scann from it. It says that another program is using it and to tyr again . But i know no other program is using it. i updated the drivers on all machines. im at a loss

Have you ever been able to scan over the network like this?  I can't find any docs on that particular model, but not all multifunction scanners/copiers/printers that I've worked with before support that capability.  I would verify that it actually is supposed to be able to scan over the network and not just to a locally attached (USB) machine before troubleshooting further.

Once you've verified that, I would try unplugging the USB cable from that locally attached machine and try again to scan over the network.  Maybe it can't do that while a machine is locally attached...
