I have a refurbed Acer Aspire 5610.  It came with media centre edition and functioned properly.  I needed to connect to a domain so reimaged with XP Pro.  None of the orbicam (webcam) drives on the acer site listed for XP work with the camera though.  Acer refuses to help because they don't support XP pro on that machine.  I've seen other comments on the web about this but no solution.  I don't even know what make of camera it is (The Acer website lists 3 different cameras for that model - but none of the drivers work.  The device instance ID is USB\VID_046D&PID_0896\5&20D0F3FF&0&4

I know _ should have looked at the camera properties before blowing away media centre edition - but it's too late for that now - Iand there was no recovery CD available.  Even if I bought  a recovery cd from Acer, and reinstalled to confirm the camera type - I don't think this would solve it - because I have tried each individual driver on the acer website already.  Thanks!

FYI--> There is no need to go from XP media center to XP pro for domain compatibility. Here is a guide on how to get the domain capability on media center.

This wasn't it exactly - but it brought me close enought to find it.  The actual solution is (strangely enough) that you need to get the driver from the acer europe site for the logitech camera (an 88mb dwnload).  This one functions under XP pro while the US version does not.  Who of thought!

Glad you have it sorted out. You might want to post a link to the proper driver here.
