Business Contact Manager Error (Common Language Runtime)

I have a PC with Windows XP SP2, MS Office 2007 Ultimate

Whenever I open Outlook i get popups saying
"Business Contact Manager failed to initialize the Common Language Runtime
ECall methods must be packaged into a system module"

Whenever I hit ok on this popup it keeps popping up. I have to close the popup about 25 to 30 times before it will go away, and then a minute or two later starts again.

This just started today.

There is also an update pending on that computer for .NET Runtime 2 Service Pack 1 that will not install. Always fails.  I do not know if this is related.

I have tried to uninstall/reinstall BCM but the installer always crashes. I cannot even remove it.

Any ideas on what could cause this? It is only occuring on one machine, we have the same setup on 5 or 6 other machines.

We have  a computer that started experiencing that exact problem on the same day. I to am very curious as to what might be the problem as I have not been able to find any other references to it on the net.

I found something on the internet saying the Common Language Runtime error had something to do with .Net Framework  but there were no more details.  And it kind of makes sense because there is an update for .net framework on that computer that keeps failing to install.  But as far as a solution goes I am still lost.

prophet001: Do you happen to have quickbooks or any other Intuit software installed??  The computer that i am having trouble with had Quickbooks 2008 installed, however we have another computer that also has the software and has not encountered the problem. So far it's just the one computer.

Yes i have quickbooks 2008 enterprise installed. I have uninstalled SQL and am trying to uninstall .NET 3,2,1 to see if reinstalling helps. This is tough for me though because System Restore is corrupted and everything I do is a one way street. I will let you know if .NET reinstall works.

GOING to c:\windows\system32\BCMMS32.DLL and renaming it to something like BCMMS32_OLD.DLL will stop business contact manager from running in outlook if you don't need it. I don't so it has helped me for a while until i get this thing fixed. Just a patch I know but maybe you can use it.

For what it's worth, the 2 computers that we had with the problem both had QB Enterprise 2008 installed and one had Outlook 2007 with BCM. Ultimately, on one I had to format the HD to get the problem cleared. On the one with QB and BCM, I ran through a number of attempts to clear the problem and my final resolution was to use Microsoft's installer cleanup utility (MSICUU2.EXE) and clear the installer for .NET 2.0 and 3.0 (the PC had 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 installed). After that, I was able to run the installer for .NET 2.0 SP1 and then for .NET 3.0 SP1. All problems were cleared after that. No uninstall for any of the applications requiring .NET.
