I am trying to install this extra CD that came with CRM that puts a desktop client for outlook on your computer. Before it installs it does a system requirment check and it fails on "Setup failed to determine whether a supported version of Microsoft Outlook is installed. View the details in the log file D:\Documents and Settings\twrighton\Application Data\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs\crm30clientsetup.log."
I am running office 2007 but i don't think that should be an issue. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Download the Microsoft CRM v3.0c for Outlook 2007 compatibility in order to install CRM 3.0. The one on the CD is v.3.0 which isnt compatible with Outlook 2007. That should resolve it. If you still have problems, paste in the error log.
