Hi there,

Scenario: We want to save money on buying processors from Dell, so I think he option we have is to get a 1 to 4 processor upgade kit from Dell, and use one of those processors in the kit to put in an existing server.

Question: Is it possible to use any processor from the upgrade kit, and put that in another Dell Server (same spec)?  The processors in the upgrade kit are not produced in a special way which only allows it to be used only for one specific server and CPU slot right?

Let me know what you think.

If the processors are the same as the ones you have in both servers then you should be fine, processors aren't tied down to a particular motherboard, so as long as they are the same as your current you should be fine and have no problems.
