I currently have a 2003 active directory setup with a parent and child domain. I am currently in the process of removing the child domain and consolidating everything into a single domain. The question I have is two fold.
1) There is a file server in the child domain that will become part of the parent domain. There are users in the child domain that access folders on that server. What is the best way to move all the folder ACL's and users / groups assigned to those folders from the child domain to the parent domain when the machine is rejoined to the parent domain?
2) When I create the users in the parent domain what is the best way to copy over the group memberships and account information for the individual users from the child domain? Whats the best way to copy the existing security groups from the child domain to the parent domain?
