SBS Upgrade

Hello all, I have a Windows 2003 SBS and the hardware is now almost obsolete. I want to buy a brand new server and again install Windows 2003 SBS using the same domain info and move over the computer, user accounts in AD etc. Is this possible?

Not an easy process. But is the only real option.

As Sembee suggested, sbsmigration.com is the way to go and it works very well. It's not exactly an automated process but the documentation is top notch. Read it all through and then work through it and you should be fine.

There are 5 different options available to you... see my description of them here:
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/22008948/Migrating-my-SBS-2003-Standard-to-a-new-SBS-2003-installation.html

If your original SBS's license is OEM, you cannot install that on a new machine though.  You would need to buy a new OS license.  The CALs are transferable.

Thanks for all your help. SBSmigration seems to be the way to go here. Although the 2nd option in TechSoEasy's post could work for me (I've only 10 users) I can see a scenario where I'll have to use SBSmigration a little further down the road. I'm going to test it on a test domain before trying it live. Sembee gets the points on a first come first serve basis. Thank you all for your help,
Thanks,

What about a bare metal restore using something like BESR 7.0?? surely that would be easier
That would be option #3 as outlined in my link above.

I'd note, however, that since I posted that original answer, I have used BESR 7.0, and it can be very tricky with regards to getting a proper restore that configures the network connections and other hardware devices correctly.  It took a bit of manual fixing-up afterwards, which I felt might be very difficult if you don't have a full understanding of how SBS works.
