Symantec Backup Exec 11d "no appendable media could be found"
My Media Set shows the following:
Overwrite Protection: Overwritable
Appendable Until: Infinite - Allow Append
Used Capacity: 8.10GB of 48.5 GB
Whenever I run a job to append (terminate if no appendable media can be found) I get the error "No appendable media could be mounted. Error - Mount failed. Physical Volume Library Media not found"
I don't understand why it thinks this media is not appendable when it clearly says it is. There is plenty of space on the tape so i know that isn't the problem. The Media Set Selected is correct (the current tape in the drive is in the appendable media set).
Why am I getting this error?

The "Device" is online. I don't have a problem with nightly backups (because the job overwrites) its the appendable jobs. Even though the append period is Infinite and there is 85+% free
Please remeber that a blank or SCRATCH media cannot be appended to.
Hope you are not trying to append to a blank or scratch tape

I am not. The Media is in Media Set Called IC and 1 Hour Overwrite Protection and Inifinite Append.
The job has this media set selected.
There is also 8GB of data on the Tape already. I am trying to add to it.

If you CAN lose the data on the tape...re LABEL the tape....If not restore to an alternate location first.
I have had this same issue with BE from time to time.
