DFS on a domain controller.

Last Modified: 2012-06-21
I have 3 windows 2003 servers, all are domain controllers. One is 2003 std and the other 2 are 2003 R2 std. The non R2 is the first domain controller in the network and has problems maintaining the domain. I want  the third server to take over the roles that are currently o the first server and make the first server a member server of the domain. I want the establish DFS on the first and third servers to prevent a failure of one server from shutting down access to the user files. I know how to transfer the roles from one server to another and how to un-cdpromo the first server. What I need to know is if DFS can be setup between a DC and a member server. I have not done this and have not heard of it being done. Is it possible, and what must be done differently if anything?

Thanks for your input.
