Hi,

A free backup software that backup the entire disk and your system state is none other than the built in windows utility ntbackup.

If you have a tape drive then you can certainly backup the entire system.

you need to only spend on the hardware.

hope that answers your question.

Well if you are looking for any backup software none of them come free.

hi,

the list of free backup softwares are on this webpage

http://free-backup.info/backup-software.htm

but it would be good if you use ntbackup as you have lot of resources for help if there are issues with the backup.

Too bad! Hitachi wont have such tool to support what you want. Also, Vista Home wont have utility buit-in such as: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

There is no free tool to image the Vista that I know.

none of your solutions worked. i've found the solution by myself with acronis true image home 11.0
how it works now ? i can't assign points because no one has given to me the right solution....

Commented:
Fairly, the question is to look for free program. I dont think acronis is free. Please understand, points are not important to me, I have enough to get going (click on my nick and see my profile if you like). Suggestions above from experts as Komas and Bhanu should be considered.

well nobody is here for points we are here for advicing people. so if you think you have not found an answer then feel free to post in community for refund and you will get your points refunded.

but next time be sure what you want and then ask the question and give all the information. Because without mentioning what you wanting we cannot give you the exact answer. as we are here to advise not to create miracles or predict the question and the answer

I thank everyone very much for all the help that you gave me,but no one was been able to find a free program that provides disk imaging for Vista, including myself (before davidis99 post). so,i had to opt for a not free solution. BHANU,i have explained very well what i want, ---> what's the best and free solution to backup the whole disk (including all the o.s configuration files). i think it's clear, what you said it's not right. If the question is well posted, you shouldn't make miracles to reply. PUNKY,i know that question is to look for free program, but if no one (including me) was been able to find it and i had to make a backup of my disk, what I would have done? only way was to opt for a non free solution. Points aren't important, but competence it is. and no one had the right competence to find the right solution for me. BHANU,now what you call "miracle" is happened...but i don't call it miracle, but competence.

hi,

when i said miracle i meant by speaking out what you want and not what is left for us to think. Well when i said miracle it was for the part unsaid, and wanted us to provide a link for non-free software.

Happy that you have a free solution and one of our members helped in addressing your query.

wish you all the best in your search

Glad you found the free software with help from expert. I have been that site several times but did not know that program is free. You are right about that. We are here to help and share and also learn from each other.

:o)

Clonezilla is a free program that does exactly that, it's not as user friendly as True Image.
