C# .net2 SerialPort.DataReceived Event

I'm trying to develop a program to control a mobile phone by at commands.
I want to be able to read and sens SMS messages.

The problem is that I don't know how to buffer the serial data.
I use ReadLine but that makes the read time out because the string I'm getting after "+CMT:xx" isn't terminated but instead xx in +CMT is the sized of the data that follows.

private void port_DataReceived(object sender, SerialDataReceivedEventArgs e)
    string recivedData = port.ReadExisting();
    if (recivedData.StartsWith("+CMT:"))
        SMS recivedSMS = new SMS(port.ReadLine());
        if (recivedSMS.udPlainText == "svara")
