Highlight Search Terms - IE/Google

I believe that it used to be possible in the earlier versions of IE to have the input search terms of say a Google search highlighted in the resulting page(s). This is particularly useful when you are presented with very long pages or ones with a lot of data, because it saves you having to sift through a load of information that the producer of the web page wants you to look at, and you don't! Does this facility still exist and if so how is it set up? I'm running IE 6. Also, is it possible in Firefox?
