Can't boot to XP in bootcamp

I installed xp  on my intel mac OS 10.5 and somehow it is no longer an option to boot to under the start up disk. The partition is still there but no sign of XP. I tried to reinstall XP but bootcamp assitant gave me the following error;

"The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows." Not sure what to do at this point.

Shutdown the computer
Then press the power button and hold down the option key .. it should present a screen giving you the option to boot into OSX or XP.

Let us know what happens on the boot select screen.

Did that and it showed two disks MacOS and Windows. I selected Windows and it said it could not boot to it, insert a boot disk and press any key. I inserted the XP disk and pressed return and nothing happened. I had to turn off computer and boot back to OS.

What is strange is I originally set up the partitioned drive  (20 gigs) and put XP on it. And it worked for about a month.  Now the drive shows all but 42 MB is available. I am guessing that XP is not on there. Which is no problem for me I just want to get it back on there and use it with Boot Camp.

At this point, you may as well use the boot camp unistaller and reformat the partition and reinstall.
