Although the solution wasn't to use WebDAV, you can install Contribute on a Terminal Server, and that suited our needs.

I am trying to setup a Contribute WebDAV connection, but do not know how. Does a user have to be on part of the network domain? We have a remote user that we need to have access via Contribute, but she is not part of our network. I can't get this set up!
