unlink table in Access 2007

I have a database on a network, the database is split and the tables are on s:/ drive and the front end is on C:/ drive. I need to add somemore onto the Table however this has a active link on it. How do I un link it so I can make updates to the table and then put the links back on again. The front end will not let me go into Design to add more firelds to the form - I'm unsure how to un link and make changes and re put the link back on again.

I'm using Access 2007 and it still will not let me un link, I have been in Link Manager but still nothing seems to be working for me as I'm getting the following message
Table "WPSINDEX" is a linked table who design can't be modified. If you want to add or remove fields or change their properties or data types, you must do so in the source database.

it would be good if I could do this from the front end as I cannot get into the back end of it to make any changes. It maybe on a drive where I have not got permission, i have to check with IT over this issue. It seems so easy to make changes but I cannot get into it to make them nor can I un link the database to do any changes. I have read the book and followed the steps even going into Link Manager screek where it show me a tick box, but this does nothing for me, I still cannot get into it to make any changes.
