Database Connector Error: '[Database Vendor Code: 1427]'

Last Modified: 2013-12-18
This is a VB6 application on an Oracle database that uses Crystal for reporting. I wrote a crystal report based on a previously written one that was similar. This report that I wrote worked for months. Now I get this error in runtime. The report viewer opens, it thinks for sometime (it would normally anyway as it's a large report) then the Crystal Report Viewer throws this error.

Database Connector Error: '[Database Vendor Code: 1427]'

All the rest of the reports seem to be working?

ORA-01427 is single-row subquery returns more than one row.

My guess is you have a subquery in your report.

The error doesn't necessarily relate to a subquery - but I agree with the error message.  Something in your DATA has changed so that a query that used to pull a single row or record now pulls more than one.

I would look first at any SQL Expression Fields that may exist in your report as the most likely candidate.  Try executing them in your db and see if they return more than a single result.  If you find it and need help fixing the query just post back.

Thank you lads, I got it. The interesting thing here is that the sql ran no problem in TOAD but crystal was complaining with this error. It was indeed a change in the data that caused an non-single row. Can I share the points between you or do I have to give one of you all the points? I'm not too sure how one can distribute points though. Frodoman did have a bit more detail though. What do ye think?
