Access 2007 format currency field so that currency symbol is right justified but amount left justified

I know you can "fiddle" a lot with date formats can you do anything with the currency format?
I don't think this is possible but just in case here goes:

I have a report where I'd like to have the currency fields formatted so that the currency symbol - in this case £ - is always in the leftmost position.
(I know I could change the format of teh data from currency to a plain number and then just add a "£" label infront of each field on the report but I DON'T want to do this.)

So I want the numbers to look like this
£ 3.00
£999.00
i.e. with the pound signs lined up.
NOT like this
£3.00
£999.00

Since this is a report can't you just put a label onto the report to the left of the currency field?
Access does not have the 'Accounting' format that is in Excel and I assume that is what you are referring to.

I don't believe you will do what you want with a format expression.
I think that you will have to convert the value to a string and prefix with a £ and the required number of spaces.

Can you say why is the separate label not an acceptable solution for a report?

Because I don't want the currency hard coded. (and I don't want to have to do a fancy workaround).

I was hoping someone could come up with a formatting solution.

Would you have different currency symbols in one report or would they all be the same?

They would probably be all the same - the symbol depending on who runs the report.
