VS2003 Configuration Properties C/C++ Property Section has disappeared

I have a C++ (unmanaged) solution with a number of projects.  I just added a new project of type static lib.

When I go to the property page for that project, I find that the C/C++ section has disappeared -- I have the General section and then the Linker section.

I know there is a simple solution for this -- I even knew it once -- but can't remember it.

(Exiting VS2003, rebooting, and then starting VS2003 isn't working for me)

this has happened to me before... the only thing i can suggest is to make sure you have your project highlighted in the solution explorer (and not something else, like a file) before you go to project->properties

That's a good idea, Sean.  I did have the project selected in solution explorer, so that's not the issue.

I have a clue -- and a workaround -- I can create a project, making it a Win32 exe and accepting the defaults.  Such a project has the C/C++ properties available.

If I do the same thing and
1)  From a project built with defaults (as above), I delete the stdafx.cpp and stdafx.h, or
2)  Select the "empty project" option, or
then
I get the problem again.

Pretty strange.  This is a plain-jane installation...no add-ons, nothing fancy.
