Expanding the Array

I have a HP Proliant ML350 that currently has 3 72.8 GB drives in a RAID 5 array.  I would like to add three more to max out the available hot swap bays.  My question is, if I chose to "Expand" the array to include the additional 3 disks, will this wipe out my data or will my data still be intact?  I called HP support but they would give me a definate answer, I guess for legal reasons, but surely someone can tell me whether an array expansion will or will not destroy your data.  I've done this on DELL PoweEdges before and then used the Windows '03 partition tool to increase the logical disk size on the data partition.  Should I have the same result on this Proliant ML350?

If you follow the HP manual and don't do anything wrong, or nothing happens like a powerfailure etc, then the data will be intact. The problem is that it is always possible for something to go wrong, so having a verified good backup is essential before expanding the array.
