Hello all,

I want to change the default locations for mdf and ldf files when creating new databases using SMS in SQL2005.

This article:  https://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Development/MS-SQL-Server/Q_21901588.html?sfQueryTermInfo=1+2005+chang+databas+default+new+path+sql

says this:

QuinnB74:
Change the Data file location of the Model database (Right click on 'Model', Select Properties, Data Files Tab)
All new databases created will use this location as default.

But the file paths at this location cannot be changed.  I cannot click into the path-location box.

First of all, is this what must change, the file locations of the Model database?  Secondly, if so, how do I do it?

Thanks.
