Dynamic database names in stored procedures

Last Modified: 2010-03-19
I have several databases that each have their own  helper database. I have stored procedures in the helper databases and want them to all be identical for syncing reasons, but they need to query their parent database. I was thinking a function would work but I cant get it to work, and I dont want to create dynamic sql in all of them. I want something like this to work...

--sproc in the helper db
declare @db varchar(100)
set @db = 'parentDB.dbo.customers'
select top 10 * from @db

Any ideas?
