ActiveSync problems with Exchange 2007

My company have just taken delivery of some new T-Mobile MDA Vario 3 phones. We have Exchange 2007 installed. When, using ActiveSync 4.5, I try to setup a relationship with exchange to get mail etc I get the following error :

Sycronization could not be completed - error 80072f17

I have the correct owa address, as I have tested it, I have the right login details.....can anyone push me in the right direction please?

Thanks

Stuart

Did you install the certificate on the phone? For Activesync to work correctly the certificate needs to be installed on the phone. You also must have a valid certificate on the website. For instance, if you use OWA and the website for that is webmail.domain.com, that website needs to have a valid certificate installed. It will also need installed on the phone. Check this article for more help: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/solutionaccelerators/mobile/deploy/deployexchange2007/f554f31c-2e8c-4e9b-924f-e6e99b9d598c.mspx?mfr=true

Hope this helps

Hello SLafferty1983

Thanks for your help. We have imported a vaild certificate, ie one that we created and put it in the right areas.  Still no love.  Any further ideas?

Thnx

Stuart
It's kind of weird. We have had the same issue a few times and I think if you import the same certificate file that you put on the website you will still have issues. If you open up the website and view the certificate, then export it to a file, that is the certificate that you should put on the phone.
Hello.

that's how we originally did it?........doh.

Thx

What kind of event logs are you receiving on the server?  If you are indeed hitting the server, you should see the connection attempt.   That should point you in the right direction.

Are you able to view OWA through the browser on the phone?  Use the url and see if it is working
