Best Free avi Editor, Create Video in .avi Format

Hello,

I need to make videos in the .avi format. Is there any good, free & easy-to-use editor that can save videos in the .avi format?

Thanks SO much for your replies.

Merete, what I have is a drawing as a .jpg file and some audio. The audio runs for about a minute & describes the drawing. I will upload the completed presentation to Youtube.

I have tried with Windows Movie Maker, but they just won't upload. I found a suggestion to go with .avi.

Hi Ubee, have you trid using powerpoint to add the audio to the jpeg?
Try saving the jpeg in PNG format and make the audio a mid file.

I need to be able to make the final output as a .avi format, so I can upload to Youtube. Any free editor that can do this.

Also youtube will convert it to flash no matter what. All video fromats convert to flash, I have done this myself uploaded mpeg and its converted to flash.
Is this an actual jpeg with audio> or a giff maybe a slideshow?
I cant quite imagine a jpeg with audio.
