How do I set the default logon user in Windows XP?
I initially had only one user on my Windows XP Pro computer. That user was called "Administrator". I added a new user, Gary, and set it as an administration. Everytime I reboot my notebook, it auto-logs on (as it should) but with the Administrator user and not "Gary". Is there some way to "set" the default user logon so "Gary" always logs on automatically instead of "Administrator"?

Just as an extra. Sometimes you have to actually set a default password for that user, and put it in the registry as well. It depends on which hotfixes and patches have been installed on your machine.
START, RUN
control userpasswords2
Check, "users must enter a name and passord", then uncheck and "OK"
A prompt will ask your for the user and password that you want to be the default.

Thank you! This worked exactly as you stated it would. I appreciate the other response as if I had needed a password, it would have been helpful. As it was, your solution was all I needed!
