No Sound With Multimedia Played Through Silverlight

I've recently run across a few sites that feature multimedia requiring the Microsoft Silverlight plugin, meant to work with Internet Explorer 6 or 7 on Windows XP or Vista.  An example of such a page, featuring both audio and video content, is http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?video=200801182350972

When I first tried to view this content, I received a notice saying that the Microsoft Silverlight plugin is needed.  I installed this plugin directly from the download link provided by the site.  When I went back to that same page of content later, it did affirm that Silverlight is installed.  But no multimedia file appears to play.  I do notice a small frame that calls itself an "ArticlePlayer frame," resembling the Adobe Flash frame some pages feature.  But no audible content plays, and no clickable button to begin such content is evident to me inside this frame.

An important point:  I am totally blind.  As such, I am not viewing visual content.  But I am pointing out content that ought to be audible in nature, since the links provided on this Major League Baseball page are interviews or brief newscasts.

Do one or more buttons exist that start and stop play, which I just don't see?  Or is Silverlight not playing well with this page or with my own system?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Your solution did speak to SilverLight and its general system and software requirements quite thoroughly.  Unfortunately, after I went straight to Microsoft to get a real-time remote reading of my notebook in conjunction with the SilverLight player, I found that my problem lies with the lack of interaction between my screen-reader (JAWS) and the SilverLight plugin.  Whenever I tried to play audio/visual content, SilverLight's frame was opening just fine; but no content played because I could not detect or activate the PLAY button inside SilverLight's ArticlePlayer frame.  This is something that Freedom Scientific, the maker of my screen-reader, will need to incorporate into future iterations of JAWS.  That your answer was incomplete in my special case is not your fault.  Thanks for posting sites that may be used to test the SilverLight player.  If you want to discuss this further in respect to the screen-reader angle, please write off-list to kbrolin65@gmail.com.
