XP SP2. &nbsp;Tried uninstalling Acrobat 8 today, then installing 7.0. &nbsp;OCR funciton worked fine on 7.0. &nbsp;Then I upgraded to 8.1 and got the same problem. &nbsp;

I ended up rebuilding my machine....is working now. &nbsp;Who knows what it was.

I scan and OCR documents virtually every day using Acrobat. &nbsp;I recently upgraded from verion 7.0.8 to version 8.1 and sometime since then I have been unable to use the OCR function. &nbsp;When I attempt to OCR a scanned document I get the following error:<br />

Acrobat could not access the recognition service because: <br />

Unable to locate the Paper Capture recognition service. Your installation may be corrupt.<br />
