SBS2003 won't respond to F8 and can't boot into safe mode

I have a fresh install of SBS2003 on an ibm x3550 sata adaptec hostRAID at RAID 0. I am trying to boot into directory services mode. It appears not to respond to F8 or shift key on boot up and goes straight to the splash screen.
