ASP.NET 3.5 on Windows Server 2003 x64: No ASP.NET Tab - How to switch between .NET versions?

Hello all,

We have a production server running Windows Server 2003 x64.  There's a known issue with IIS on Windows Server 2003 x64 where the ASP.NET tab does not show up.  I have a manual tool to switch my websites back and forth between 1.1 and 2.0.  If you're not aware of this particular issue already, you probably won't be able to help, so please don't try.

If you know about the issue, great!  It's worked well enough for us to be able to switch between 1.1 and 2.0, but now I have no way to switch to 3.5, and the previous tool we used isn't working.  How do we manually configure a site for 3.5?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

.NET 3.5 is built up on .NET 2.0. Installing it doesn't show it in the ASP.NET version drop down in IIS.
3.5 is rather just an update to the framework. It runs under 2.0, so just install it and clients with 2.0 mapping on site can use all its functionality.
