Have you tried installing an updated printer driver on the Terminal Server?
Avatar of lamaslany
Has this happened before?  Are you connecting with a new printer?  Are you trying to connect to a Windows 2003 terminal server?

Confirm that the print spooler on both the client and the server is started.  To be extra sure you might want to restart the spooler.  If the spooler starts then most likely this is a driver issue - you need to install the print drivers on the terminal server.
@chinchus: Can you confirm that you are trying to connect to a Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server?

It is a windows 2003 server. I did tried the link above, but it does not work because i am unable to add a printer because nothing happens when i click on the add printer button. I am also unable to view any installed printers on the terminal server. the print spooler is running and i have restarted it a million times since i started working on this issue 24 hours ago. Nothing seems to work and i am very frustrated . If you guys can help me out here I will highly appreciated.

Thanks...
If you open Printers and Faxes are you able to click on Files > Server Properties?
Can you get to the drivers tab?
Do you have a copy of the Windows Server 2003 installation media?
I can not get the drivers tab, when I click on server properties nothing happens. I have windows server 2003 enterprise edition installed and i do have a copy of it.
Have you rebooted the server?  <G>
I have rebooted the server a million times and nothing. my printers still do not show under printers and faxes and a can not add one either as the printer wizard does not initialize and the print spooler is running.
Try manually deleting the content of c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS.  You will need to stop the spooler first.

Once deleted start the spooler again and try and access the server properties again.
I finally found a solutions for this problem. I renamed the following files "printui.dll and msimg32.dll". After doing I copied the same files from another working server to the windows\system32 folder, rebooted the server and my printers were back and I was also able to add a printer. Thank you very much for your help. I hope this solution can help someone else.
