Thanks for your response. &nbsp;No, it gets stuck at the very begining, the scanning part. &nbsp;You can tell it's scanning but that is where it stays till I cancel it.

Since starting this question, the mother board failed and PC is not worth repairing. &nbsp;Thanks for suggestions but the PC died!

I have a computer which if very slow and I have tried to run disk cleanup, under properties for the drive in my computer. &nbsp;The program appears to be running, the hard drive light is constantly either on or blinking but the barometer either starts with 4 blocks and stays there or there are no blocks. &nbsp;I've tried several times and have left it running for up to 14 hours. &nbsp;It never completes although the hard drive ceases to flicker.<br />
&nbsp; I have tried:<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp;Norton utilities disk program and Windows programs from diskettes<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp;Reloading Windows and overwriting the past installation<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp;Check Disk<br />
