What is the difference between subversion's update vs synchronize?

We recently switched to Subversion from clearcase. I would like to know what is the difference between the two options which the Eclipse plug-in shows: Update and Synchronize.

Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

Update will update your working copy with the latest changes from the repository.
The Synchronize View will give you an idea on how others commits will affect your changes. It shows what the others did to the repository and what you have done meantime.
