Mouse and keyboard freeze

Hi!

I just sold a new Lenova R61 to a customer. After one day of use, the keyboard and mouse suddenly freeze on the latop and a hard reset is the only way to unfreeze it.
This happens pretty randomly, and i can't see that there's something about the particular software beeing used. Can this be some kind of driver problems??

Most likely some 3rd app loaded after purchase is causing this.  Find out what was added after sale.

elit2007,

Have you tried a selective start (i.e. disabling some or most of the programs, etc that load on start) or starting and running in safe mode?

If it doesn't happen at start then you could try opening the Task Manager and looking at the Processes to see if it gives a clue to the culprit.  It is the best monitor and there are some better ones to download but it may be enough to help identify the cause or what is freezing.  Click on the CPU column name twice to have the processes that are using the most CPU listed on top.

Let me know if you have any questions or need more information.

elit2007,

One other thought.  Have you tried testing or replacing the memory?  It can be a pretty easy test/solution and may be the cause of this.

Let me know if you have a question.

You did not say if the whole computer is locked up, Try getting new video driver from website. make sure to uninstall currant driver first.

I forgot to tell that i added additional 1 GB of original IBM memory. Obvious there could be something bad with this module. I think I first try too remove this memory. If this doesn't work I will start uppdating driveres and try monitoring processes and software behaviours. Thank's for fast feedback!

It would seem that my suggestion for disabling start up programs was the key.  I am a little curious why the B grade then??  If it was a mistake or you have a question about grading then let me know.  I can fix the mistake or answer questions on grading.

I'm glad I could help.  Thanks for an interesting question. :)

Thanks for the reply and letting me know.  I am glad it was just a mistake. :)

I can reopen this question so you can close it again (with the grade you meant to award) or just change the grade.  I you want to have me just change the grade then please confirm you want it to be an A.  I don't want to assume anything since it was my expert comment.  Let me know which you want done or if you have a question.  Thanks for the extra effort to correct this.
