Creating script in Altiris to install DAT files

Hi All

We are using Altiris deployment server 6.8

We have about 400 servers. Every now and then, a group of servers will not receive their McAfee DAT file updates from the parent server. Rather than logging onto each one and running a manual update, I'd like to just drop an Altiris job on them to kickstart them back to action.

For the sake of argument, let's say the .exe file is DAT.exe

I'd like to create an Altiris job that copies this file from the Altiris server to a location on the remote server, runs the .exe, and then deletes the .exe once complete. Another problem is that I'd like it to be a silent/quiet install, i.e. ignore any 'next' or 'finish' commands.

Copying the file over in Altiris is straightforward, however to run the file silently, would the command be?

REM run .DAT exe from temp location
C:\Temp location\DAT.exe /quiet

And how I could I delete this file?

Any help appreciated!
The script operating system is Windows

This depends entirely on whether the executable supports quiet or silent switches at the command line.  Check the vendor documentation, or run
DAT.exe /?
to see avaiable switches.

If you do have a silent switch, then the following VBS code would run the EXE locally:
Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
objShell.Run "cmd /c c:\DAT.exe /quiet", 1, True
objFSO.DeleteFile "C:\DAT.exe", True

Rob.
