Must restart printer to print

I have an HP LaserJet 1200 connected via USB to a Windows Server 2003 and shared for mutliple computers on the network.  The server is on all the time.  When I come in the morning and send a print job to the server, the printer shows an error in the print job.  When I restart the printer, the print job prints and other print jobs sent to the printer print ok.  This problem happens after a certain period of time when the printer is left inactive.  This problem occurs when sending print jobs from all computers on the network.
It seems that the printer "goes to sleep" and does not "wake up" until I restart it.
Please help!

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Only thing I can think of is to check the power saving setup on the server and the printer.

Unusual for usb connection, but printer pruning may be responsible.

I just have to close this question.  I quit my job at that company and have no idea if they solved the problem or not.
