I have been having some problems with Public Folders and decided to just delete my existing Database and recreate it. When I try to remove the Databse I get the following error.

--------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
The public folder database 'Public Folder Database' cannot be deleted.

Public Folder Database
Failed
Error:
The public folder database "EXCHANGE\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database. For detailed instructions about how to remove a public folder database, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=81409.

OK

I have followed the directions here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201664(EXCHG.80).aspx to remove the database using this process...

1.
Get-PublicFolder -Server <server with public folder database> "\" -Recurse -ResultSize:Unlimited | Remove-PublicFolder -Server <server with public folder database> -Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinue

2.
Get-PublicFolder -Server <server with public folder database> "\Non_Ipm_Subtree" -Recurse -ResultSize:Unlimited | Remove-PublicFolder -Server <server with public folder database> -Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinue

3.
I then try to delete the database again from the EMC but I still get the same error.

I have used this command thread also http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/11/13/447521.aspx Issuing this command "Get-PublicFolderStatistics | Remove-PublicFolder" Gives me the following errors...

So My guess is its not removing the folders corectly but I guess the question is how do I get it done?

I do not have any other exchange servers this is the only one and I do not want to move the replicas anywhere i just want to start a fresh database.

in ADSIEdit, go to

Configuration > Services > Microsoft Exchange > [Exchange organization] > [Administrative Group] > [AG name] > Servers > [server name] > Information Store > Storage Group.

Then highlight the public store and delete it.

I must say I had the same problem as discribed above and I have spent two days woking on and looking through technet. I spent 15 on experts exchange and solved my problem! Way to Go!

I would just like to say that this was a solution for my problem as well but would like to note that you may have to wait up to an hour for the change to reflect on your Exchange server. I rebooted as well which may have been beneficial or a hinderance. Nonetheless, thank you dmorrisroe!

THANKS!
Yup, me too.  Banged my head for a long time trying to remove a defunct database from a failed migration but ADSIEdit took care of it.  Thanks!
