exchange - dirty shutdown

URGENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I deleted the pub1.edb and pub1.stm files on my exch serv 2003 so that It could build a new database.

Now my mailbox store willl not open.... I did a eseutil /mh "C:\program files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb"

It idicates that I have a dirty shutdown what do I do??????????

Who is Participating?
I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Both pub1.edb and priv1.edb are needed, one handles the public folders and other handles mailboxes.  Repairing priv1 wont help if pub1 is still missing.  Try putting pub1.edb back, deleting everything in the public folders (if you want it empty) and have eseutil do a defrag on it to get the size down.

Has Powershell sent you back into the Stone Age?

If managing Active Directory using Windows Powershell® is making you feel like you stepped back in time, you are not alone.  For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why.

The MS article here says that this message is caused by low disk space.

Also, did you check that HD had sufficient disk space during the Defrag?

I solved it.... After recognizing that both the pub1 and the priv1 were clean I deleted the log files and everything mounted just fine
