Sorting doe not work after search in Notes

While looking at a Lotus Domino document library in the All Documents view, a user noticed that the Date field does not sort correctly after a search.  The date field sorts fine before the search, but after the search it appears to be sorting alphabetically.  Do search results fall into a different view than the All Documents view?  There also appears to be a limit of 250 diocuments being returned.  Is this configurable?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
