Want to update a SQL field based upon source select from dropdown box

This should (and probably is) be easy...
I have a drop down box I use to pull a list of devices from SQL. When the user selects one of these devices it populates a DetailsView with a Notes field. What I want it to do is when the user selects a device from the drop down I want it to retrieve the Notes field but then be editable so they can update any information.

This is VB Studio 2005 web

Thoughts, ideas?????

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

fetch your all data into a dataset.datatable and bind it with controls on the form.
capture the drop down change event.. and just move your binding source current to that particular record. the detail view will be automatically populated.... edit it and then save it.
