3COM 4400 using Nortel IPT

We are trying to configure a port on a 4400 for a Nortel IP Phone, when we set the port to untagged it works fne but as soon as we set the port to tagged it doesn't work. We've tried all sorts of different combinations but can't get it to work. We've checked all the uplinks and made sure they're all tagged with VLAN 2 but no joy.

It's not a DHCP issue as the phone works fine in a tagged vlan on a Cisco 2960.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

have you configured your nortel ip phone with vlan enable and with appropriate tag?
if not, you can enter phone conf mode (when you plug power in, fast press one by one buttons under the screen (there should be 4 of them to) and configure vlan

just double check, that phone is trying to send out tagged frames to network. i suppose the only problem is iphone settings

what happens when you set the port to an 802.1q trunk port, maybe set a native vlan of 2 so that any untagged frames get pushed into vlan 2?

there is no native vlan in 3coms.
when the port is trunked it should drop all untagged frames, or will use pvid setting to accept packet into appropriate vlan
