I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

What is the type in SQL?

What are you storing in this field?

SQL 2005 has some new types that are better for blobs than image and memo.

Cheers

use [ITWT]
insert into part_binary (PART_ID, TYPE, BITS, BITS_LENGTH)

SELECT PART_ID, TYPE, cast(cast(BITS as varchar (8000)) as image), len(cast(BITS as varchar (8000)))

FROM  OPENDATASOURCE(

 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',

 'Data Source="g:\visual\itw\itw.mdb";

 User ID=Admin;Password='

 )...PART_BINARY

where PART_ID IN

(SELECT ID FROM PART)
