Filtering view by Date on the fly

Have a DB which tracks completed tasks and accomplishments, have a view which shows all of the items. I have been asked to add a button which will allow the user to filter the view to show only records with a completion date in 2008. I have used the @SetViewInfo([SetViewFilter] in other dbs to filter for certain values, but they were text based. Is there a similar method I can use to do the same but to have it show only entries for this year?

You almost gave the answer yourself. The same @SetViewInfo, and use a column with @Text(@Year(completion_date)). Would that do it??

Sorry for the delay here, got pulled on other projects. I am trying to combine the value from 2 forms into the same column, when separated the values compute to the year, but in the same column I get one good and one Icorrect Data type. is there a way to get these in the same column?

@Text(@Year(comp_date)) : @Text(@Year(end_date))

For the document with the error, one of the fields doesn't contain a date value. It might be a text-representation of a date, or worse. Try this one first:

@Text(@Year(@TextToTime(@Text(comp_date))) : @Year(@TextToTime(@Text(end_date))))

I am no longer getting the error but the filter is not working.

The values I am getting in the comp_date column are sampled below.

Formula in the button to filter
@SetViewInfo([SetViewFilter];"2008" ; "comp_date";0)

Enable "display on separate lines" for that column.

Apparently, there are many columns that do not have both dates filled in. However, I think it doesn't matter here, the column is never shown to a user.
